Chapter 33: Anthony’s Ambition

“Adams, right? Are you trying to get rid of a beggar? You’re trying to get rid of me with just two fruits?” Anthony said through gritted teeth as he saw Adams throw the fruit at his feet.

However, before he could finish his sentence, Anthony was unable to resist the fragrance of the fruit. Subconsciously, he bent down and picked up the fruits. He held them in his hand like they were a treasure and gently wiped away the soil on it.

Looking at Anthony’s behaviour, Adams smiled and asked, “What else do you want?”

Anthony wiped the two fruits clean and carefully put them into his quantum ring. He placed his hands on the short wall on both sides of the camp gate and sneered, “The previous time, I heard that you got the difficult mission list. I want to see your list. May I?”

Adams was stunned when he heard this. He then turned his head to face Vivian.

Vivian was also confused, and didn’t know what Anthony had up his sleeve.

However, Adams wasn’t planning on being on guard against anything. Every quantum ring received during the coming-of-age ceremony had a mission list tagged to it. This was already recorded down when everyone received the rings. Therefore, even if he didn’t have a mission list when he returned, it was still possible to find out someone’s corresponding mission.

“Since you want to see it, I’ll show you!” Adams took out his list and handed it to Anthony.

Anthony immediately took the mission list from him and studied it carefully. After counting all the missions, a wicked smile appeared on his face. He said, “Just as I expected, a difficult mission list is meant to make things difficult for people. Hence, it will not be done in detail. Therefore, most of the missions on both our lists are the same!”

Seeming to have caught on to something, Adams’ brows knitted together. Placing his hand on the Winter Sword at his waist, he looked at Anthony rather warily.

Vivian saw this and secretly gestured to Garen and the others. All of them took out their weapons and moved half a step forward whilst glaring at Anthony.

“Haha!”

Out of the blue, Anthony burst out laughing and took two steps back. He made way for them at the camp and said to Adams, “You have earned my respect by bringing people to complete the missions on the list. As the leaders of the two teams for this coming-of-age ceremony, you are qualified to have a chat with me in the tent. Please!”

Adams looked at Anthony without saying anything. Garen, who was standing behind him, spoke first, “What a joke! Our Big Brother is the only leader for this coming-of-age ceremony. What kind of leader are you? If it weren’t for the fact that these people in the camp were lucky enough not to starve to death, you would have been left all alone!”

Anthony, who had always been arrogant, was unusually quiet. He did not even look at Garen. Instead, he smiled and said to Adams, “Hehe, saying that you are qualified to enter the tent with me is an honor to you because the Wester Family is behind me!

“Even if you complete the coming-of-age-ceremony missions, before you receive any appointments from the Empire, you are still just an ordinary civilian. The fact that I think highly of you means that the Wester Family thinks highly of you. When we return, naturally, I’ll work with you on behalf of the Family and let you gain some benefits in advance. It will definitely be beneficial for you in becoming a cultivator!”

Upon hearing Anthony’s words, Garen and the others were unconvinced. However, Adams waved his hand to signal them to be quiet. He smiled and said to Anthony, “In that case, thank you for the Wester Family’s good intentions. I’ll follow you into the tent. Let everyone enter the camp first!”

“Alright. Please!”

Anthony said as he stepped aside and made way for them at the main gate of the camp.

Adams led Vivian and the others into the camp before following Anthony into the tent on his own.

Anthony stopped in front of the tent and smiled kindly at Adams while gesturing for Adams to enter.

Adams smiled and stepped forward to pull open the tent’s door curtain. The scene before him shocked him.

There were more than ten fruit cores hanging inside the tent. The flesh that could be eaten had already been devoured clean. Even though they had dried up, they had not been thrown away.

There were a few female corpses lying on the ground. The arteries on their necks were all cut open and blood was still flowing out. It was obvious that Anthony had used them and killed them before all of them headed back!

“Adams, watch out!”

Just then, Vivian’s cry rang out from behind Adams. At the same time, he heard a gust of wind, which was clearly the sound of a sword slicing through the air.

In the blink of an eye, Adams swiftly spun around, drew the Winter Sword from his waist and used the edge of the sword to fend off the blade in front of him.

Vivian and Garen were furious when they heard Anthony’s words. They picked up their weapons and rushed over, wanting to surround and kill Anthony on the spot.

Right now, they no longer cared about the Wester family or the insufferably arrogant aristocrats. They only knew that as members of the Glorious Association, whoever dared to harm Adams was their mortal enemy.

Before Adams could finish his sentence, his voice was drowned out by a loud noise.

A golden ray suddenly lit up on Anthony’s sword, and a huge blade of light shot out along the ground towards Vivian and the others. The ground immediately shook and split up into pieces.

At the same time, Vivian and the others finally realized what the latter half of Adams’ sentence was about.

Anthony is already a level-one Warrior!
