Chapter 69: Moving In
The peaceful days never lasted long. The mansion soon had an uninvited guest.
Guo Guo was playing with toys in the living room when a woman with a big suitcase prepared to come in. He knew this person. Tossing down his toy car, Guo Guo lay on the sofa and stared at the newcomer with wide eyes.
Xiu Yijian felt awkward about getting stared at. This kid was too smart.
“Hi Auntie. Why are you here? Did Daddy invite you?”
Xiu Yijian lugged her suitcase in with difficulty. “Yeah,” she replied patiently. “Auntie will live with Guo Guo soon. Aren’t you happy?”
Guo Guo didn’t answer. He climbed the stairs with his short legs and entered An Xiaoyan’s room.
An Xiaoyan heard the commotion below, but he couldn’t move or go downstairs. He didn’t know what was going on.
“Uncle An, an auntie says she’s coming to live with us.”
“Which auntie?”
“The one that ate dinner with Daddy before.”
Miss Xiu.
An Xiaoyan didn’t know where he could go. When Gu Jun got married, he would probably get kicked out. With all his debt, he had no reason to keep living.
“Uncle!”
Guo Guo’s voice dragged him back to reality. As soon as he raised his head, he saw Xiu Yijian at the doorway.
“You’re treated quite well. Oh, where’s the second bedroom?” She wasn’t shameless enough to move directly into the master bedroom. She’d only come per Old Mr. Gu’s orders.
“This is the second bedroom.”
“Then what about guest rooms?”
“I don’t know. You can ask the servants.”
Xiu Yijian went downstairs. She walked through the mansion before she saw a servant pruning the bushes in the garden. The house was so big, but there was no one other than An Xiaoyan and Guo Guo. It was too strange!
“Uncle, why is she living with us?”
“Because she wants to marry your dad.”
Guo Guo shook his head. “Like Uncle Gu Jing and Aunt Gao?”
“Yes. This way, you’ll have someone to take care of you.”
Guo Guo rubbed his head against An Xiaoyan. “But Guo Guo likes Uncle An. You should marry Daddy so you can take care of me.”
An Xiaoyan didn’t expect Guo Guo to say something like this. “Guo Guo, don’t say these kinds of things anymore,” he said, slightly strictly. “Otherwise, I’ll get angry. Your dad will be mad too.”
“But Guo Guo likes Uncle An.”
Guo Guo hugged An Xiaoyan with his chubby arms as if the man would disappear the next second. Seeing the little guy in his arms, An Xiaoyan’s heart warmed up.
He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t touched or happy. He’d witnessed Guo Guo’s development. In the beginning, he had been chronically frightened and unable to talk. Now, he was lively and innocent. An Xiaoyan practically saw Guo Guo as his own child.
There was suddenly a reason to keep living. Even if he lost everything, he still had Guo Guo. The kid would still like him.
If the day really came when even Guo Guo found him useless, he could leave then.
When Gu Jun got home, he smelled a unique fragrance in the air. He’d spent plenty of time at the brothel, so he was familiar. It was the smell of a woman’s perfume.
There were many different scents out in public, so one wouldn’t really notice. Here, he could smell it clearly.
The mansion didn’t have any women who weren’t servants, but servants wouldn’t use perfume. So who could it be? Could it be An Xiaoyan’s lover?
Picking up his pace, he climbed the stairs and entered An Xiaoyan’s room. The smell of perfume suddenly dissipated. The scent of cotton flowers filled the entire room.
“A woman came?”
An Xiaoyan nodded and pointed to the neighboring room. Gu Jun opened the master bedroom’s door and saw Xiu Yijian playing on her phone while sitting on the sofa.
“Why are you…?”
“Old Mr. Gu told me to come.”
“Get out!”
“Gu Jun, if I walk out, Old Mr. Gu will be notified within the hour. For the good of both of us, how about you consider where I can stay tonight?”
Gu Jun calmed down. “The house only has two rooms. How about you sleep on the sofa in the living room?”
Xiu Yijian was about to protest when Gu Jun opened his wardrobe and took some clothes out.
“I’m not that cruel to women. You can stay here, but don’t use perfume. If I smell it, I’ll have the servants spray the air with purifiers 100 times every day!”
Xiu Yijian listened with wide eyes. She couldn’t say anything, but she wondered where Gu Jun was taking these clothes. He wouldn’t go stay at the office, would he?
Gu Jun walked directly to An Xiaoyan’s room.
“That woman’s staying next door. I’m staying here.”
An Xiaoyan nudged, voluntarily giving up most of the bed for Gu Jun. This was Gu Jun’s home. He could stay wherever he wanted to.
Thankfully, the second bedroom wasn’t much smaller than the master bedroom. It had its own bathroom as well, so Gu Jun took a shower. When he came out, An Xiaoyan was still lying in bed with his eyes open.
An Xiaoyan had been lying in bed all day. Gu Jun didn’t know how he did it. If he had to lie in bed all day, he’d probably go crazy.
As if he’d predicted something, An Xiaoyan had already taken off all his clothes except the innermost thermal wear.
Gu Jun lifted the blankets and lay down beside An Xiaoyan. It was quite early and he actually wanted to talk to An Xiaoyan. Men were creatures that thought with their lower bodies, but he wasn’t sh*tty enough to do something like that to an injured person. He couldn’t bear to.
Seeing that Gu Jun wasn’t doing anything, An Xiaoyan said, “Mr. Gu, Miss Xiu is next door. You should go see her.”
To Gu Jun, it felt like An Xiaoyan was jealous. He wanted to tease the other. “I can sleep here too. The bed is soft. I can sleep well.”
Since Gu Jun clearly wasn’t going to move, An Xiaoyan continued, “Miss Xiu will get worried.”
Gu Jun turned around to stare at An Xiaoyan. “An Xiaoyan, do you think I’d date Xiu Yijian?”
“I…think so.”
“What if I say I won’t?”
A person’s heart was very small. It could only fit one person. Life is very short. It’s only long enough to love one person wholeheartedly.
“Then Mr. Gu will love someone else. Guo Guo is still a child. He needs someone to take care of him.”
“I think you’re doing a good job.”
“Mr. Gu, you must be joking. I’m just repaying my debt.”
Gu Jun studied An Xiaoyan’s expression for a long while. His indifferent expression didn’t waver.
Gu Jun had wanted to express his feelings countless times, but he could never say it aloud. He was afraid that if he did, he would have no chance at all.
“Sleep. There’s work tomorrow.”
“Okay.” An Xiaoyan reached to turn off the light. His legs were weak so he couldn’t reach the switch. While he was trying hard, the large hand behind him turned off the light. Then his body was picked up and moved over on the bed.
That night, the two lay beside each other without any intention of sleeping. Hearing the unsteady breathing next to him, Gu Jun’s blood heated up. He’d never thought that sleeping so peacefully could be such a pleasure.
Next door, Xiu Yijian also couldn’t fall asleep.
Old Mr. Gu had told her to come, so she’d come, but she wasn’t wanted at all. She had to register for the international May design competition soon. If she couldn’t do it by then, all her efforts would be in vain.
She would try for one more month. If there was still no progress, she would give up. It was clear that Gu Jun didn’t like women.
Guo Guo was always the one to wake up the earliest. Xiu Yijian had finally fallen asleep at midnight, but she was woken up by loud knocking early in the morning. The child’s voice outside passed through the door.
“Daddy, wake up! Daddy!”
Guo Guo just took a look at the second bedroom and then crept downstairs. Uncle An was still sick. He had to rest.
The nanny following behind him couldn’t help but chuckle. The young master never yelled like this before. What was different today?
However, she’d snuck a glance at the woman who’d come yesterday. It was obvious that the woman wanted to enter into the family.
After living with the rich family for so many years, she understood everything. To be honest, she liked An Xiaoyan. This man was good in every way. If he could be with Mr. Gu, there would be someone to take care of the young master too.
The nanny wasn’t a conservative person. She was fine with two men being together. Plus, Mr. Gu already had a son, so there was no worry regarding an heir. The most important thing was that she could clearly see An Xiaoyan’s love for Guo Guo. She already had children, so she knew if the feelings were genuine or not. She didn’t know what misunderstanding existed between Mr. An and Mr. Gu. Mr. An always flinched when he saw Mr. Gu, but she still felt they suited each other.
Gu Jun had a dreamless night. When he woke up and checked his phone, it was already nine. It was too late for work, so he decided to keep sleeping. It wasn’t like the company would go bankrupt without him.
It was An Xiaoyan’s first time sleeping in, too. Before, his biological clock would wake him up at seven. Today, it was almost ten when he woke up.
More importantly, Gu Jun was still beside him.
“Mr. Gu, Mr. Gu.” An Xiaoyan carefully poked Gu Jun’s arm.
After dozing off again, Gu Jun was woken up again. He opened his eyes to see An Xiaoyan with messy hair.
“Mr. Gu, I didn’t set an alarm. It’s my fault that you’re late.”
Gu Jun looked at the old phone in An Xiaoyan’s hands. He grabbed it, opened it, and then returned it.
“It’s okay. I’m not going to work today.”
“Oh. Miss Xiu is here. Mr. Gu should accompany her.”
Gu Jun’s clothes were next door. He’d only taken his pajamas last night. He walked to the master bedroom and knocked. The door opened, revealing Xiu Yijian with dark circles under her eyes. She looked at the spirited Gu Jun.
“It seems that Mr. Gu has slept well.”
“Yes. Did you not sleep well?”
Seeing the stark contrast, Xiu Yijian didn’t want to stay here a second longer. She couldn’t stand this cold man or that annoying kid anymore. However, she was still logical. She composed herself and went downstairs.
Guo Guo was playing with a puzzle. He looked at Aunt Xiu curiously.
“Auntie, what’s wrong? Why does your face look like a bitter melon?”
Xiu Yijian ignored him. This father and son duo just wanted to piss her off!
“Where did your dad sleep last night?” she asked tenderly.
Guo Guo didn’t have much guile yet. “With Uncle An, of course,” he replied proudly.
“Does your dad sleep with Uncle An often?”
“Yeah. I sleep with Uncle An too. He smells nice, so Daddy likes him. I like him too.”
Xiu Yijian instantly thought that she’d discovered something incredible. So Gu Jun likes this kind of smell…
