Hearing Gu Jun’s words, Liu Cheng felt pressured. This man definitely had some background.
“It seems like you really don’t know me, but you should know Gu Jun, right?”
He’s Gu Jun!
He’s here, probably because of An Xiaoyan!
“We didn’t meet four years ago. You seem a bit shocked to suddenly see me here today.”
“You’re the man who sent Yan Zi to jail and who won’t let him find a job now!”
Liu Cheng’s attitude didn’t pose a threat to Gu Jun. He ignored Liu Cheng, admitting it right away.
This was the man who had ruined Yan Zi’s entire life. This was the man who changed other people’s lives at will. Liu Cheng clenched his fist and threw him a punch.
Gu Jun had expected this. He reached out and caught Liu Cheng’s shoulder, pinning both his arms behind his back.
The two were at a stalemate. Sweat beaded on Liu Cheng’s forehead. His shoulder had gone numb from being in that position for too long.
“Try not to piss me off, or else you’ll be responsible for the consequences!”
Gu Jun let go, throwing Liu Cheng to the ground. The pain flaring in his right shoulder made Liu Cheng grit his teeth.
“Send him away.”
With Gu Jun’s command, Liu Cheng pushed himself up and tried to stand up. However, his arms were powerless and he fell, sprawled on the floor.
Gu Jun felt great seeing Liu Cheng like this. Your fault for pissing me off and disrupting my plan!
In the end, Liu Cheng was helped up by Chen Chen. His arm was dislocated and he needed to take a taxi home.
“Sir, the man has left.”
Gu Jun nodded. “Go to the pharmacy tomorrow. I’d like to see how the murderer is doing nowadays.”
“Okay. Also, there was a call from home. Apparently, the young master threw a fit late at night, wanting you to go back.”
“What’s wrong with him?” Gu Jun didn’t like his son. It was normal for him not to go home for weeks at a time.
“The nanny said that the young master started having problems at dinner. He kept yelling while eating.”
“What did he yell?”
“Daddy.”
Gu Jun lay on the sofa, massaging his temples while deep in thought.
This child had been an accident. The mother—Mu Nan—had been a one-night stand that unexpectedly produced a child. The Mu Family used this chance to force him into a marriage, but before the marriage happened, the mother and son died in the hospital.
However, this unexpected child was still his son. Gu Jun’s heart still twitched.
“Make the preparations. I’ll go back and see the boy.”
Chen Chen had already prepared the car. Hearing this, he quickly went to drive it over.
As the car cruised under the night sky, Chen Chen peered at Gu Jun in the rearview mirror. Gu Jun was sitting there, looking outside casually.
Sensing Chen Chen’s gaze, he guessed that the man had something to say. “What?”
“The young master’s health hasn’t been good. The nanny said that he was sick a few days ago. He doesn’t really eat and often has nightmares.”
“Oh, I see.”
Back at the Gu mansion, the light was still on. As soon as Gu Jun entered, he heard the child’s cries upstairs.
The nanny saw that the master was back, so she brought Guo Guo with a tear-streaked face from the room.
“Did the doctor come?”
“Doctor Zhang came at night and prescribed some medicine, but it didn’t do anything.”
“I see. You can leave.”
After the nanny left, Gu Jun squatted down to look at Guo Guo whose eyes were swollen like cherries. He opened his arms to hug the kid.
Guo Guo stared at the man before him and continued to bawl.
“Daddy, Daddy…”
The little boys’ teary expression warmed Gu Jun’s heart. He lifted the boy up and put him in bed.
Gu Jun hadn’t been home in a long while and Guo Guo couldn’t recognize him anymore. He wasn’t very bright, to begin with, and didn’t receive a good education either. Now, he was even slower than other kids his age.
Guo Guo struggled against the man’s embrace with his hands and feet. At first, Gu Jun thought that his son just wasn’t used to it, but he gradually realized that the kid didn’t remember him anymore.
It’s only been a month and he forgot who I am? A regular four-year-old shouldn’t be like this!
The more Gu Jun thought of this, the angrier he got. What was the use of keeping a kid like this? He was like a retard!
Guo Guo lay on the bed, trying to find that familiar figure in his mind, but he couldn’t. He could only bawl to express his confusion. Annoyed by the crying, Gu Jun left for downstairs and shut the door behind him.
Chen Chen could still hear the crying downstairs. Just as he was about to suggest calling the doctor, Gu Jun said, “Tell Zhang Zilan to come tomorrow and check if the kid’s IQ went down.”
The child’s cries upstairs were still piercing the silence of the night. Gu Jun took a bottle of red wine from the wine cellar, filled a glass, and started drinking alone.
After he downed half a bottle of wine, the kid was still crying upstairs. Gu Jun slammed the glass down and strode up to the stairs.
“Why can’t you stop the crying?”
The nanny had piled toys and snacks before the young master, but he still wouldn’t stop crying. Faced with the furious Gu Jun, the nanny started sweating anxiously. Young Master, even if you can’t make Master like you, can you at least not annoy him?
“If he keeps crying, give him sleeping pills,” Gu Jun said, impatiant.
Hearing this, the nanny froze. The young master was only four years old. He couldn’t take that kind of medicine! He was already weak and the pills would be fatal to both his brain and body.
“Sir, Young Master is too young…”
“If you don’t shut up, you don’t have to come in tomorrow.” The nanny swallowed the rest of her sentence down her throat. She didn’t want to lose this well-paying job, but seeing the pitiful young master, she didn’t have the heart to do it.
Seeing that Guo Guo wasn’t about to stop crying, Gu Jun ordered, “Get the pills.”
The nanny didn’t dare to object. She placed the young master onto the bed and went downstairs to get the pills.
She opened the first aid kit. Opening the bottle of sleeping pills, she poured one out. Then she closed her eyes and put it back. After a while, she seemed to think of something and poured it out again.
The nanny looked to either side of her. No one was there. Adjusting her angle to have her back to the security camera, she poured out a vitamin pill from another bottle and hid the sleeping pill in her pocket. She crushed the vitamin into powder and added water to it.
“Watch him after he drinks it. Don’t let him bother me unless it’s an emergency.”
Gu Jun watched the nanny feed Guo Guo the solution and then went downstairs impatiently.
The nanny didn’t relax until Gu Jun was gone. Patting the young master’s back, she said, “Young Master, go to sleep. I’ll stay by your side.”
Guo Guo seemed to understand her words. A while later, his crying subsided and he gradually fell asleep.
Night fell; Gu Jun had emptied a bottle of wine. A smooth back and defined ribs appeared in his mind, together with An Xiaoyan’s tear-stained face. As soon as he thought of this, heat surged within him.
It was late at night, but he couldn’t stop himself from driving to An Xiaoyan’s apartment. He parked the car and strode down the cramped hallway, coming to a shabby door.
The knock sounded especially loud in the quiet night. An Xiaoyan blearily got up and opened the door, gazing sleepily at the guest. He still hadn’t woken up entirely. His head drooped, his eyes weren’t fully open, and his hair was sticking up. Gu Jun pushed him aside and entered.
“Go shower!”
The voice shocked An Xiaoyan awake. He froze when he saw the person clearly.
“Why aren’t you showering?”
“I showered yesterday.”
“Then go do it again.”
An Xiaoyan didn’t reply. He wordlessly got some clothes from his room and walked to the bathroom. A while later, the sound of water running came from the bathroom.
He walked out with a towel, hair still dripping wet. Faced with Gu Jun, he continuously dried his hair, too scared to let his hands stop.
“If you think your hair is annoying, just shave your head! Why are you so slow? Get over here!”
An Xiaoyan finally put down the towel. He folded it and placed it on the table before sitting beside Gu Jun.
“These books are yours?”
Seeing the books that had been messed up on the table, An Xiaoyan quickly collected them and tossed them into his room. “I—I don’t know a lot of things. I want to pick them up.”
After Gu Jun sat down, the thick English dictionary, pharmacology books, and the neat English notes on the table caught his attention. The blue words amongst the black were especially eye-catching. He couldn’t read them, but he could still see the seriousness in them.
He’d wanted to fulfill his lust here, but the detailed papers made Gu Jun change his mind. “Lend me some clothes. I’m taking a shower.”
An Xiaoyan lay in bed, and a hot torso was pressed close behind him. He was hyperaware of any interaction with Gu Jun.
“Sleep. If you don’t sleep, I won’t mind making you tired.”
An Xiaoyan was covered head-to-toe in blankets. Hearing those words, he gradually fell asleep. When Gu Jun heard snores, he sat up and gazed at the sleeping face beside him. He lay down on the other side of the bed and slept peacefully.
