- Chapter 4 - Don’t Move, I’ll Be Right There! Chapter 4
Dog Abuse Let’s be Together
The November holiday came to an end very soon, Jiang Yan was headed back to the Imperial Capital with Xue Hangyi, so she canceled the return ticket she’d already booked.
On the way back they both chatted in the back seat while the driver drove in front. After some time her eyes closed unconsciously because of fatigue.
On this trip back from S City, they got to know each other better and became closer.
Time passed quietly, after returning from that trip Jiang Yan was quite capable and unrestrained in her routine life and work. Xue Hangyi often asked her out for dinner. At first, she felt embarrassed, but eventually, she took the initiative to ask him out.
Over time, their relationship gradually warmed up, but she still clung to the past. Xue Hangyi did not rush to pierce the layer of paper, but in the eyes of the outsiders, they were already a young couple. He had been waiting, and she knew he had been waiting for her.
The peach blossoms bloomed in April and suddenly one day, one didn’t know what came to her, she sent a text message to Xue Hangyi1:
【Let’s be together.】
At the time, he was in the middle of a meeting. When he saw the text, he hurriedly left the meeting hall to call her. When the call got through, he suddenly became shy and was lost for words.
Jiang Yan smiled as she asked:
“Okay or not?”
“Are you serious?” He gradually calmed down.
“April Fools’ Day was yesterday,” Jiang Yan replied.
He got very excited. “Don’t leave after work!”
“Are you making an appointment?” she asked teasingly.
Xue Hangyi grinned like a child. “Yes, (I’m) making an appointment!”
Later in the afternoon after work, it was Jiang Yan’s turn to be shy. Xue Hangyi looked at her excitedly and handed her a bouquet of flowers. “Let’s go!”
She took the flowers and felt a little more natural. “Where are we going?”
He opened the door of the car and this time, he had driven by himself. Once they both got in he said, “Home!”
She looked at him in surprise, “Go where again?!”
Xue Hangyi started the car happily. “Don’t be nervous, it’s not like you haven’t been there before.”
Indeed, some time ago, both their companies had had successful cooperation with the proverbial win-win situation. Thus, the two big bosses were happy enough to celebrate with a banquet in a hotel, which was a few blocks away from Xue Hangyi’s house. After the banquet, she, along with several department managers and their boss went to his house to visit Old Xue and stayed for a while.
“That’s different,” she said with a bitter face. “You didn’t say you were going home earlier. I didn’t prepare anything.”
He laughed again. “Ever since you left that day, my mother has been asking every day when you’d visit again. Even if you didn’t prepare anything, she will still be pleased.”
Jiang Yan was a little shocked. “What did you tell her?”
Xue Hangyi coughed and continued: “It’s nothing, just said you are my girlfriend.”
She pouted but gradually apologized. “Sorry, I made you wait so long.”
When the car stopped at the red light. With a dotting smile, he reached out, caressed her head, and sighed. “Stupid.”
Just as Xue Hangyi said, his mother was very excited when she saw Jiang Yan. She kept pulling her to speak, almost telling all of Xue Hangyi’s childhood stories from birth. Jiang Yan was nervous at the beginning but after a while, she gradually got infected by Mother Xue’s enthusiasm and started to chat with her about him.
Xue Hangyi himself sat aside and watched the two people chatter with a bright smile while occasionally chiming in with a few words.
Suddenly, a little loli of about four or five dashed down the stairs and threw herself at Xue Hangyi. Looking up at him, she exclaimed, “Brother! Where’s my baby?!”
Jiang Yan had known him for so long but she never heard him mention having such a little sister. She was a little bewildered by the situation.
Mother Xue cheerfully introduced, “This is our Xiǎo Chéngzi2, Hangyyi’s little sister. You go play, I’ll go to the kitchen to have a look.” As she spoke, she got up and went into the kitchen.
Jiang Yan nodded and reached out to touch Xue Cheng’s head. “How old are you… so cute!”
Xue Hangyi squeezed Xue Cheng’s face and urged her, “Tell your sister-in-law how old you are.”
Xiǎo Chéngzi was very obedient. She crawled onto Jiang Yan’s legs, wrapped her arms around her neck, and whispered, “I’m four and a half years old, Sister-in-law.”
Of course, Jiang Yan knew that Xue Hangyi had deliberately taught her this, but she neither denied nor argued. She simply reached out to hug Xue Cheng and kissed her on the cheek. “Good Girl!”
“Huh!” Xue Hangyi suddenly sighed.
When Jiang Yan looked at him, his gaze was fixed on his little sister, before he looked at Jiang Yan. “Even I don’t get this same treatment. Xiǎo Chéngzi, you are so lucky.”
His eyes were dark, and Jiang Yan immediately reacted. Her face flushed, but she pretended not to understand. “What treatment? Have your parents been treating you badly?”
He curled up his lips and stared at her. “You know it.”
She shook her head. “I don’t know!”
Seeing her act like that, Xue Hangyi smiled and raised his eyebrows as he lifted Xue Cheng off of her. He leaned against Jiang Yan, the corner of his mouth crooked playfully. “Now you’ll know—”
Seeing him leaning over, Jiang Yan hurriedly reached out to block his face and hid back. “Don’t, your sister is still—”
Xue Hangyi smiled slightly, then braced himself to halt. Looked at her earnestly he said,. “I too want some benefits.”
Jiang Yan pushed him a little farther. After coughing softly, she smiled. “Please use Alipay to talk to me about benefits.”
Xue Hangyi was stunned before actually reaching for his phone. Seeing what he was going to do, she quickly held his hand. “I’m kidding, what’s the relationship between us? Talking about money will hurt our feelings. Isn’t it just about benefits?. Go ask your company’s human resources and finances department for it—”
“You!” Xue Hangyi had no choice apart from shamelessly holding her hand and refusing to let go.
After dinner, Xue Hangyi sent Jiang Yan home.
The car was parked under Jiang Yan’s house. Xue Hangyi held her hand and didn’t let her out.
“No one is here now.” He looked at her with a dark gaze.
Jiang Yan smiled helplessly and pressed her lips on his cheeks and kissed him. “Is this all right?”
“No.”
He stared at her and suddenly kissed her lips at lightning speed. They kissed for a long time, and it was only when both of them were almost breathless that a panting Xue Hangyi let go of her. “This is pretty much the same.”
His husky voice made her flush even more. She didn’t even look at him directly.
“Xiao Yan, look at me.” He tugged at her shoulder and suddenly chuckled. “You can’t do this. After this, you have to do more in-depth things. Are you going to hide from me?”
After a few moments of silence, Jiang Yan lifted her hand and twisted Xue Hangyi’s ear. Then, she turned around to get out of the car.
Xue Hangyi clutched his painful ear and smiled like a hooligan.
Jiang Yan, you see, you can fall in love with someone else too.
One love differs from another… it could be strong… weak… zealous… or tranquil… However, it is love nonetheless.
Goodbye, Great God Ling Guang.
Hello, dear Mr. Xue!
